Hike: Sant Jeroni de Montserrat, 13.5 km
Sunday, April 28, 2019, 8:10 a.m., Meet at Pl. Espanya FGC train station (not metro) in front of the ticket machines
Are you ready to tackle Montserrat's highest peak?
We are, and we’ll be there, rain or shine!
We’re trying something a bit different this month; we’re splitting the hike into two groups. For the hardcore hikers who are looking for a challenge we’ve got a longer, harder hike planned: HIKE A. For those who are up for it, we’re simply adding to the shorter hike a small section with a good, tough climb - to make it a just a wee bit harder. (Details below.)
Not sure you're up for it?
Don’t worry, for those who aren’t ready for the climb the longer hike represents, we’ve got something easier planned: HIKE B. It’s only 10 km long (without the hardest part!) and you’ll have time to visit Montserrat Monastery before meeting up with the first group. At our meet-up point the two groups will converge and continue together for the easier part of the hike. (Details Below.)
Before you decide be sure to read the full descriptions below of the two options available and download the trail on Wikiloc so you can follow the trail on your phone/GPS device.

Hike A
Peu del Aeri de Montserrat > Monastery > Sant Jeroni > Monastery; 13.5km
Description: The first segment of the hike begins at the Peu del Aeri de Montserrat. From there we climb our way up to Montserrat Monastery; this segment is a 3.5 km climb with an increase of elevation of about 600 meters! Once there we’ll take a short break and we’ll meet up with the second group of hikers who will be waiting for us there. Then we continue together as one group for the rest of our hike. |
Hike B
Take the cable car up from Peu del Aeri de Montserrat and begin hiking at the monastery - Monastery > Sant Jeroni > Monastery; 10 km
Description: If you’re not quite up for the challenge of the steep climb that the first segment presents, you can head on up to the Montserrat Monastery via the Aeri de Montserrat.
