Thinking about joining? Just do it.
At less than 4 EUR a month - it is well worth it.

The American Society is a huge help in getting to know great people from many nations, network your business in the Bcn community and see the best side of catalan culture while keeping in touch with my fellow countrymen.

At the ASB we strive to serve the many needs of the local English speaking community with different events, so we are always looking for talented individuals who want to make a difference...and have roughly 3 hrs a week to donate to a great cause and organization...Are YOU someone like that?

Do NOT hesitate to call with any questions and I hope to see you at our next event!

About Me:

After graduating from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and working in New York City, I visited Barcelona in '94, drank from the fountain at Canaleta -- six months later decided to see what it might be like to live in Bcn. I threw caution to the wind, left a great job and said goodbye to my parents and siblings, made the move and hoped for the best...As I adjusted to my new home in Les Corts, I learned first hand the daunting and ever so humbling experience of searching for work in this lovely (though horrrrribly underpaid) Mediterranean city until finally securing a position with Deloitte & Touche to launch their data security and IT audit practice. This was an awesome opportunity that I enjoyed from '95 to '98, giving me the opportunity to see a good part of Spain, understand the country and its politics, learn to speak Catalan and see other parts of Europe. However, I soon got the itch to move again and decided to try going back to my hometown in Maryland, just outside Washington DC.

I spent the next 5 years in the States starting a family, getting a Masters degree in Telecommunications at Johns Hopkins and "advancing the career" doing software engineering consulting in the DC metro area, playing lots of soccer and fishing bass in the Potomac.

Once my personal, academic and career goals were achieved in DC, I decided to move back (yes, AGAIN - and this time with two beautiful daughters!!! ) across the Atlantic to Barcelona in 2002 and have been here since. With a college friend, I started an M&A advisory boutique and now have partners and offices in London and Amsterdam.

Barcelona will be my home for at least the next 5 years, and I remain committed to helping my fellow Americans make the transition to my Catalan city...so let me know how I and the ASB can help. I am equally eager to extol the myriad virtues of the great country that is the US of A to anyone who is willing to listen, and I would look forward to waxing philosophical with any and all who would like to enjoy a clara and some bravas....

Victor (now based happily in Gracia, Barcelona) Fins aviat!
